Medellíns Planetarium was established in 1984 and underwent its second major renovation in 2011. It re-opened its doors to the public in 2012 offering a world-class immersive digital dome experience: planets and galaxies feel so close you can almost reach out and touch them.
The planetarium also has experimental activity areas and an auditorium with a capacity of 200 seats, in addition to a library specialising in science literacy, a souvenir store, and a café.
Medellíns Planetarium is part of the largest recreational area that combines science and technology in the city. It is also located in the North sector of Medellín near Parque Explora as well as other attractions such as North Park, the Park of Wishes and several major units of the University of Antioquia.
Planetarium´s Domo is highly inclined (27 °), has a screen with 15 meters in diameter and a fisheye projection. The display produces a 4K resolution of Fulldome quality (approximately 4000 pixels).
